John O’Connor has led state and district-wide school improvement initiatives during his 27 years in public education.  He taught students with orthopedic impairments at the elementary and middle school levels.  He has also served in several administrative positions: Education Program Manager with the Georgia Department of Education and Assistant Director for Special Education, Executive Director for Special Services, and Assistant Superintendent for Student Services in local districts.  John currently serves the Henry County School System as the Director for Interventions and Assessment.

Session Description:

Your Superintendent calls you into his/her office and states, “Our outcomes are clear.  We have to drastically increase the achievement of students with disabilities.  What should we do?”  Now is your moment to make a big difference for your district and to impact so many students!  Are you ready for that conversation?  Do you have an answer?  Do you have a plan?

During this training, John O’Connor will equip you for the challenge.  Through engaging activities, he will share specific instructional and programmatic steps that will increase the achievement of students with disabilities in your school and across your district.  This training activity will be helpful for Principals, Assistant Principals, Special Education Administrators, Curriculum and Instruction Administrators and Teachers.

SSTAGE Cancellation Policy

To cancel participation for an event, SSTAGE must receive written notice (email seven calendar days prior to the scheduled workshop/conference.  An administrative fee of $25.00 will be charged for cancellations.  Requests for a refund must be received in writing at least seven calendar days prior to the start of the conference and must be addressed to SSTAGE encourages participants to find a substitute. Replacements will be welcome and there will be no charge to transfer a registration to a colleague for the event.  Advance notice of replacements is preferred.  If an individual registers and does not attend the event, he/she will be marked as a “no show” and the full conference fees shall apply. Registrants are responsible for payment. Refunds will not be made for “no shows”.  Refunds and reimbursements will not be transferable to other workshops or conferences.  SSTAGE is not responsible for United States Postal Service mail or electronic mail failures.
